Safety & Security

Safety

  • We would suggest a group of four collectors around each location.

  • Always have a minimum of two collectors near each other.

  • When bringing your buckets to deposit the funds collected always travel in twos. This is for your safety and well-being and the charities interests.

  • Seal the collection buckets. Stickers or cable ties if holes have been drilled in the bucket and lid can be used. Have two people present when a bucket is unsealed. This may be a regulatory requirement.

  • Don’t open buckets on the street & show cash. Take buckets in relays to deposit them.

  • Introduce yourself and get to know local shop/station/local police personnel.

  • If someone decides to rob you hand over the bucket. You are far more important. Report this to your charity and let the local police know if appropriate.

  • If you are being hassled retreat into a local shop or other suitable location. Touch base with a manager of the shop to ask it this is OK beforehand. If you are not comfortable at a location move on. The local charity should be able to give you an alternative site.

  • Watch out for each other.

Be prepared for and encourage people to ask questions. Perhaps designate one person for this roll. It is an opportunity to let people know about brain injury. If you don’t know the answer refer on to the charity.

Oh... and have fun!
